App Friday: The Princess & The Fireman

Welcome to App Friday, our weekly link exchange of family-friendly apps. This week we have a treat from the world of make believe. Have you ever wanted to be a firefighter, a prince, or a princess? If so, this selection will keep the imagination running with stories from these favorite childhood roles. We are featuring Kids Fireman by Ducky Lucky Studio, and Cinderella Puzzle Book + Prince Bear & Pauper Bear by Axion Books. Enjoy!

Kids Fireman We have a boy who loves firefighters. This app was developed after going through numerous firefighter DVDs, books, fire station open houses and other firefighter-related activities.  Your kids will love going through the life of a fire fighter from the time of an emergency call to rescuing a cat and putting out the fire.  Slide up, slide down, move, touch and poke various objects with real sound effects and colorful scenes.  It is fun and interactive with exciting background music – it’s sure to delight your toddlers and pre-schoolers.  Whether you are reading a firefighter book, watching an instructional fireman video for kids or visiting a fire station open house, you will see some of the scenes or themes that are captured in this app.  Our goal was to summarize these activities in a story book-type format that kids can enjoy.

Cinderella Puzzle Book Cinderella Puzzle Book is the timeless classic story book with 25 pages of manga art illustrations. Options of text highlighting, narration and auto page flipping make it easy and enjoyable for a wide range of children. Parents can also record their own voice for the narration! Mini games are sprinkled throughout the book to engage the reader. The interactive jigsaw puzzles improve the child’s shape recognition ability. The search and matching of “hidden crowns” improve color matching ability. The coloring game is simple fun to look at! The goal is to let the reader feel engaged while reading an e-book and also to improve shape and coloring matching ability along the way.

Prince Bear & Pauper Bear In this story of love and second chances, Pauper Bear, a teddy without a mouth, longs to be loved, whilst Prince Bear loves himself. Pauper Bear’s chance finally comes when a little boy brings him back and repairs him whilst Prince Bear ends up in the home of a girl who forgets about him. The two bears meet again a year later, changed by the different turns in their lives. In this chance encounter, both bears come to experience love and friendship with new perspectives. This book app has options for Read to Me, Read Myself, and Read Automatically modes.
