I Have A Story To Tell…

On a dark, rainy, Monday night, a group of family-friendly developers gathered from far and wide at a Bay Area coffee shop. All sorts of chaos ensued. There were photographers, kids, markers, iPads, and cookies . There was chatter about apps, graphics, beta testing, and pricing models. There were even potty breaks. But unbelievably, there was no whining. Tonight I’d like to unveil the community behind the blog. Real people make apps. Real people who have aspirations, talent, and little tykes to inspire their work. Let’s meet some of them…

Alesha (Branding Consultant and c0-founder of MWA)

Libby (Goodnight Safari)

Survi (Monkey & the Crocodile)

Josh (SV Kids App MeetUp Host, Do Re Mi 1-2-3)

Mike…Mike? Where did you go? (Speech With Milo)

Anita (Visual Math)

Emmy (Phonics Vowels)

Madhavi (iLuv Drawing Animals)

Berna (BrightKnight Kingdom)

Nikita (iLearn Solar System)

Nirupama (Murky Reef)

Yadong (Noodle Words)

Michelangelo (Pirate Scribblebeard’s Treasure)

Stephanie (Let’s Go Chipper)

Mini App Developers, playing nicely together

Nadia, Erwan (attending via iPhone), and Luca (Happiness Industries)

Satyajit (iReward Chart)

Lorraine (Editor | Moms With Apps)

Caroline (Wheels on the Bus)

The Kid Table, with real markers

Maya (MemeTales)

Our “satellite branch” in San Diego (more on this crew coming soon!)

Over 1000 developers and specialists in the “app for kids” marketplace are registered on the Moms With Apps forum, from countries all over the world. Every day, news articles are popping up about families turning their ideas into apps: from Dallas, to Tuscon, to Fredericksburg, to Edmonton, and back to San Francisco.

Why are we so excited? Maybe it’s because we don’t get out much (but hey, there’s  no time like the present). Congratulations on paving the way to family-friendly creativity, teamwork and content. And keep sending in those pics!

  1. wow, wish we were based in the US – thank you so much for giving mwa a face, personality, reality!

  2. I love to see the pics of this creative, vibrant group. And how cool that there is actually some face to face time with real markers and real handshakes…not just virtual ones. Keep up the good work!

  3. Oooooo! I so wanted to be there. Next time (hope there is a next time). I’ll make the trek from El Dorado County to meet you wonderful, creative folks. Thanks Lorraine for making this happen.

  4. @matt, reach out to Jody, Tharesa and Pam. They are all on the FB Dev Exchange group, and have been talking about planning an East Coast meetup. I’d also talk with Evan, Scott and Lynette.

  5. Fantastic to see the faces of the names. Thanks Lorraine and MWA team!

We’ll take photos when we do a Sydney meet up!

    Karen 🙂
