The Jellybean Tunes App Report: Volume 20

The App Report, our weekly collection of product announcements and news from the members of the Moms With Apps network, turns 20 today and we’ve reported on over 300 apps so far. Are we resting on our laurels? Not a chance. Let’s see what we have this week.

Early Learning: My A-Z by Night & Day Studios gives you a way to create custom alphabet cards (and was chosen as New and Noteworthy by Apple). Learn to tell time with the Bubbimals, the names of tools with Accelerated Learning, and the names of animals with Animal Tiles. Sing your numbers with Over in the Meadow.

Hashi Khushi takes the classic book for learning the Bengali alphabet and translates it into an app.

Literacy: Sound Sort Blends introduces children to blending letter sounds.

Books: We have our first eBook this week entitled “eReading: The Best Thing” teaching Dolch sight words. Sam and Ben celebrates our differences and similarities. My Colorful Life tells a story through color. It’s Time for Carrots makes me want to eat vegetables, and The Lost Gorilla inserts your child into an African adventure.

Creative Play: Draw and Tell by Duck Duck Moose brings together drawing tools, stickers, animation and voice recording (also chosen as New and Noteworthy by Apple). Felt Board by Software Smoothie lets kids create characters and use props to tell an endless array of stories.

Photos: Dollar Dogs intriguingly promises to insert fun 3D animations into your camera view.

In other news, Murky Reef from Frolyc is now available as a series of apps organized by subject and grade level. StudyPad has a lite version of their popular Splash Math 4th grade worksheets.

Parents, please take a moment to read the iTunes app descriptions, and to screen the apps you download, to fully understand the features and elements in the app. If you find an app you like, remember to write a review.
