App Friday: Charles Peattie’s Animal Alphabet

Welcome to App Friday, our weekly link exchange of family-friendly apps. Today, Tapisodes is offering a free peak at all of the engaging animals in Charles Peattie’s Animal Alphabet. Earlier in the week they shared the story behind their witty, hand-illustrated animations. But today you get to try the real deal, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself humming the song over the weekend. Enjoy!

What is your app about? Charles Peattie’s Animal Alphabet is a fully animated interactive ABC book. There’s a different cartoon for each letter of the alphabet, each page being activated by a tap on the screen. There are several play modes, including a quiz, song, and favorite animal.

Why is it special? Well there are lots of ABC apps out there, but we think there are a few things that make ours special. We wanted to create something that grown ups would like too (something that parents could enjoy withtheir kids) and I think we accomplished this with witty and humorous animations. The other thing that’s special about Charles Peattie’s Animal Alphabet is that it’s not just a series of flashcards, which might get tiring after a while.  It’s much more like an animated, interactive book that kids can read over and over again. The quiz mode, where you select which animal begins with which letter, aims to increase the engagement and educational value of the app.  Oh, and it’s universal, so you can get all that good stuff in HD on your iPad as well as your iPhone!

What’s in it for me? For App Friday December 17th, Charles Peattie’s Animal Alphabet will be FREE to download on the iTunes app store. Price will revert back to normal by 8pm US PST, so make sure to check iTunes right away.
